TOY BOX: Picture Yourself is ideal for every one

Developed conceptually by its founder during a solo stay in the wilderness, Picture Yourself is a tripod and timer device that lets users take hands-free photos of themselves from disposable cameras.

The contraption is equally helpful for group shots, which have traditionally excluded the picture-taker when a disposable camera was being used.

The lightweight item attaches to the camera via a Velcro strap, and has an automatic timer centered over the camera's trigger. The tripod legs, which can be unscrewed from the base for increased portability, are bendable, making the stand conducive for use on uneven surfaces. When fully wound, the timer gives users 12 seconds to position themselves for the picture.

When winding the timer knob, you have to hold the apparatus firmly in place. The Velcro strap is not very sturdy and the camera tends to shift. On the whole, however, this is a perfect first step towards ridding your albums of photos with outstretched arms.

The verdict: It's about time someone came up with this.
